The Handy Hui Experience

The Handy Hui is a minority-owned family ran business servicing O'ahu. Co-founded by Gindi French and Jovan French, The Handy Hui provides competent and reliable handyman services to residents and businesses across the island. Our staff of three technicians and administrative team is here to support your vision, meet your maintenance and repair needs, in addition to unlocking your project's potential.

More on Gindi French:

Gindi French grew up in Southern California and began her career at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory while still in high school, working as a rocket surgeon. She went on to study mechanical engineering with a minor in ocean engineering at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, paving the way for a decade-long career in spacecraft and deep-sea instrumentation—fulfilling her passion for exploring extreme environments.

After moving to Hawai‘i, Gindi consulted for the University of Hawai‘i’s School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) and the Hawai‘i Space Flight Laboratory (HSFL). She also taught Technical Communication at UH Mānoa. After funding challenges, she shifted into the trades and quickly discovered a talent for hands-on work and project management across general, electrical, and plumbing contracting.

Gindi was a founding member and co-owner of Kamaʻāina Handyman in addition to formerly owning BJ Genz Plumbing, both companies were operated locally. Today she is a founding member and co-owner Oʻahu Inspections. As a woman in business, Gindi is an active member of the Honolulu Executive Association (HEA) and Professional Women in Building (PWB), and she teaches courses at BIA Hawai‘i, helping others grow in the industry.

Jovan French grew up in Honolulu, Hawai'i and is a motivated professional with expertise in electrical work, construction, and handyman services. As a co-founder and operations manager, he launched The Handy Hui with Gindi French. Prior to co-founding The Handy Hui, Jovan co-owned Kamaʻāina Handyman, excelling as a field supervisor and estimator, overseeing projects from assessment to completion, ensuring customer satisfaction for four years.

Earlier in Jovan's career, he gained experience as an apprentice electrician, working with electrical subcontractors and specialty contracting, and doing construction work.

Jovan has experience in building and managing field teams, spearheading quality assurance and project management. He cultivates relationships with subcontractors to ensure quality work and competitive pricing.
